CAIN AND ABEL -- The Interpretation of Genesis 4

CAIN AND ABEL -- The Interpretation of Genesis 4
The name Abel means "breathe", Genesis 2:7. Breathe as used here connotes the detached Spirit of God into man. Spirit connotes energy: energy is defined as, "the measurement of work capacity”. Abel is representative of the human Spirit. The Lord in this story refers to our heavenly Father... 'Father of all Spirits', the source from whom all Spirits (energy) flow. Cain means, 'an acquirer', a tiller of the ground or one who acquires (substantiability) through hard labour. If Abel represents the human Spirit, Cain is symbolic of the ego-driven self. Adam and Eve, according to this story represent the masculine and feminine aspects of creation. The word 'God' connotes, 'the sovereign creator (of the perceptible worlds)'. God Consciousness is an energy level directly above the celestial (or astral) spiritual consciousness level -- a harmonic level of (spiritual) consciousness which unites the lower levels of spiritual consciousness to the higher level of spiritual consciousness. Christ is the Celestial Logos! All Christed entities walk the right-hand tradition of God, and consequently sit on the right-hand throne (the single, unicode world -- the star life, achieved and created through the Christ consciousness). Man as part of the spiritual family is a spirit being presently having a human expression, his Soulishness (Godly attributes) conferred alongside his embodiment -- Genesis 2:7. The climax of human spiritual consciousness is the Christ consciousness; the shaper of divine realities in man.

The story in Genesis 4 is centered on the journey of the human ego round wheels of incarnations until he surrenders to divine Will. He continues journeying in a circle until the dawn of the Christ consciousness, which opens his eyes to divine Will and shapes heavenly realities in him.

Genesis 4: 3-5; And in the process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought the fruit of the ground an offering unto the Lord. And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the Lord had respect unto Abel and his offering: But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell.
Abel, who is representative of the human Spirit, is the keeper of divine (flock) commandments. In the absence of the ego, the human spirit through a rich spiritual life has the capacity to attend to divine commandments. The firstlings (plural) of the flock connote the greatest of divine commandments. Flock as used here means congregation of divine commandments.
Matthew 22: 36-40; Master, which is the greatest commandment in the law? Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

I'll like us to discuss these two premier laws because Abel, the human Spirit represents the keeper of divine commandments, and the congregation of divine commandments is represented as flock in this passage. The word, 'flock' as used here means congregation of divine laws. The firstlings (note: firstlings in the above scriptural verses is pluralized) of the flock represent the premier or greatest of the laws. Let us discuss the two greastest laws which Abel, the human Spirit offered to the Lord as pointed out by Jesus in the gospel of Matthew.

The heavenly Father's foremost requirement of man from the perspective of the first great commandment is that man should desire and cherish the next Spiritual level or consciousness above him with all his heart, with all his soul and with all his intellect. This is the actual meaning of ‘loving the Lord God with all thy heart’. In other words, man should press towards a higher level of spiritual consciousness till he achieves God consciousness. Man must strive regardless of misguided realities around him. Matthew 11:12; The kingdom of heaven suffer violence (misguided realities) and only the violent (one with mental stamina and boldness) takes it by force (compulsion).

God consciousness should be the center-point of every man's soul. Man must love the Lord, his God (the personification of God consciousness) with all his heart, soul and mind. The concentration of all his mental strength, emotional intelligence and psychological energy must be focused towards the attainment of God consciousness. He must love and crave this higher spiritual life with all his soul. The Spirit life is ever becoming, taking many forms and reforms as consciousness expands. What kills the Spirit is actually a fixated and stagnant material expression (as we shall see as the interpretation unfolds). When an entity's consciousness (awareness) meets the right frequency and vibrational requirement for a bodily expression of a higher consciousness, a change in current bodily expression must occur to pave the way for a higher bodily expression, thus 'quantum leap' occurs. Quantumness as used here is, "a step up of consciousness, resulting to a step up of energy level and spiritual capacity". The human spiritual energy level is a co-creating or replenishing energy. Man is a co-creator; a worker in a created world. Man’s next spiritual conscious level is the creative energy level and the Christ consciousness, which is the apex of human consciousness shapes divine realities in man such that he creates his first world (the white throne of Christ), thus man leaps from a co-creating or replenishing energy level to a world creating energy level, which is God-consciousness. Let us bear in mind that the scripture says that, “the Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ. Romans 8:16-17. What are we heirs to? We are heirs to the thrones (worlds) created through the consciousness of God or of the universe. The heavenly Father, who is the Creator of the manifest world commands that we get addicted mentally, emotionally and psychologically to the ways of the higher Spiritual level through which we can attain, 'God consciousness'. You cannot become what you do not love or crave for. The obedience of the first great commandment should be the center point of our daily life. Our life's focus should be towards the attainment of our God consciousness. The obedience of the first commandment confers Sonship in the Spirit. Romans 8:19; For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.

For skeptics, man's spiritual journey is Godhood. It is boldly written in the scriptures and Jesus referred to that quotation: John 10:34-35; Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods? If He called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scriptures cannot be broken... Jesus was actually referring to Psalms 82:6; I said ye are gods and all of you are children of the Most High. Earlier, I described Spirit as an energy and defined energy as the measurement of work capacity. Man co-creates in a created worlds, in other words he is not (yet) a creator  (of worlds) but a replenisher. Genesis 1:28; And God said to them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth. The word 'replenish' as used in this scriptural verse means to renew; to nourish; to finish; to complete; to perfect. The creator level seems abstract and a difficult level to attain until man becomes exposed to the reality of the first great commandment. The premier of all commandments must be strongly imprinted in the heart of man. He is created in the image and likeness (-- having the attributes) of God and Godhood is his (intended) destiny and potential. If man is hungry enough; if he will love and crave that spiritual level passionately, the Holy Spirit will expose him to the realities of world creation. Heaven (the creator's abode) is the next spiritual home, earth man must compulsively crave. 1 Corinthians 15:48-49; As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy: and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly. And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly.

And then, the second great commandment says, man must love his neigbour as himself: When asked; who our neighbours are? Jesus told the parable of the good Samaritan. And so many people do believe that our only neigbours are other fellowmen sharing the earth abode with us. The ecclesistical laws preaches adherence to this interpretation so much that it has become public belief that other fellowmen are our only neigbours. When we embrace this interpretation, we have only taken one step of the many steps we ought to take in the obedience of this great commandment.

Our neighbours are entities that have our Heavenly Father's breath and share the earth abode with us, simply put, "entities that breathes and have souls". The soul is the seat of consciousness, and the whole essence of creation is to ‘expand consciousness’. Expanse of consciousness enables enlarged capability in spiritual operation. Without consciousness expansion, our Spirits cannot grow and enlarge its operation. We are spirit beings currently having a human expression (human soul); dogs are spirit beings currently having a dog expression (dog soul); rats are spirit beings currently having a rat expression (rat soul)... and so on. Humans have gotten to a consciousness level called, "self-consciousness". Animals are not yet self-conscious, but they are nevertheless growing in consciousness and may change their mode of expression when they meet the requirement for spiritual evolution. With all animals and humans, only the clean ones (those who meet the requirement for spiritual evolution) are offered unto the Lord. Acceptance of the offerings of clean animals connotes a spiritual seal of admittance into a higher mode of expression of their Spirit. The Spirit is the Father's breathe in every living entity; therefore, every living entity with a soul evolves spiritually. Even Jesus was said to be an "offering" unto the Lord God after passing the spiritual evolutionary examination. Isaiah 53:10; when thou shall make his soul an offering for sin (ignorance). Paul, the apostle was also offered unto the Lord God: 2 Timothy 4:6-8; For now, I am ready to be offered, and my time of departure is at hand. I have fought the good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth, there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not unto me only, but unto all them also that love his (Christ's) appearing. Crown of righteousness as used here is the seal of admittance into the celestial or heavenly bodies when one is deemed righteous in the eyes of heaven. 1 Corinthians 15:48-49; As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy: and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly. And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly. Please pick up any advanced dictionary and look up the meaning of heavenly bodies or celestial bodies. The result of your findings is man's next state of being, 'we shall also bear the image (body) of the heavenly'.

Man's exam is simply to know and do God's will. Hebrews 4:7; Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy Will, O God. Man's sin is his ignorance, if he comes to the knowledge of what is required of him and he is willing to walk in the light of such knowledge, he is no longer a sinner, but he is deemed righteous (clean) in the eyes of heaven. When man comes to the understanding of what is required of him by the Heavenly Father, his soul is offered unto the Lord, having overcome ignorance (sin) of what is expected of him, thus he moves onwards and upwards in the spiritual evolutionary ladder. The Father, through the second great commandment simply enjoins man to treat every living entity with respect, with the conscious knowledge that every life is sacred and spiritually evolving; also all man's actions towards every living entity must be looked at, from the perspective of how he loves and cherishes his own life. If he loves himself and does not want anyone to hurt or kill him, why should he hurt or kill other living entities. The scripture does not support killing animals at all! Man's lack of spiritual understanding and his literal interpretation of the scripture is his biggest stronghold (enemy); the scripture enjoins us to wage war on ignorance, our spiritual enemy. Jesus, an epitome of spiritual dominion and power conquered all mental, psychological and emotional enemies and said, "Thy Will be done on earth as it is in heaven". If we do the Father's Will on earth, we are an offering for sin (ignorance), we must then light the minds of others, to follow in our footsteps, so then we have died that others may also have spiritual life. When we are dead to the things of the world and focused only on heavenly things, we become exposed to divine realities. The truth we glean and fed others with, is an evidence of death to the human mode of expression and a readiness to put on a celestial or heavenly expression. We cannot understand the truth unless we are willing to die to the human dimension.

The firstlings of the flock (commandments), which are the fattest (greatest) was what Abel, the human Spirit offered to the Lord; and the Lord had respect unto Abel and his offering. The popular notion that Abel killed that which had life and the Lord accepted it as a worthy sacrifice is a misguided reality (or veil) which we must outgrow. True sacrifice is: knowing and doing our heavenly Father's will; only then can burnt offering (mortification of the fixated flesh life) be accepted. I'll like to discuss what is expected of us at the dawn of the Christ consciousness, a time when the Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon us, and the Spirit of wisdom and understanding shall be with us. I'll like us to read the passage of scriptures below carefully but our focus should be on the sixth unto the ninth verses of this passage. Isaiah 11:1-5; And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots: And the spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord; And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the Lord: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of the ears: But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breathe of his lips shall he slay the wicked. And righteousness shall be the girdle of his loins, and faithfulness the girdle of his reins. Isaiah 11:6-9; The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatlings together; and a little child shall lead them. And the cow and the bear shall feed; their young ones shall lie together: and the lion shall eat straw like the ox. And the sucking shall play on the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put his hand in the cockatrice' den. They shall not hurt or destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord as the waters covers the sea. The ending phrase of this scriptural passage says, "for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord as the waters covers the sea". It should be clear to us now, that without true spiritual knowledge, we cannot obey the first and the second great commandment from divine perspective. The willingness to obey the first and second great commandment are the fat firstlings that Abel, the human spirit offered unto the Lord. I am certain, we now know that man's neigbours also include animals. Animals are man’s soul kindred. We should not stop any soul entity having the Father's breathe from expanding consciousness. Every entity having the Father's breathe is part of the spiritual family regardless of their low state of consciousness level. Do unto them as you will do to yourself. What is the point here: We must cherish and crave the higher spiritual level of consciousness but also take care of entities with lower consciousness. It is a give and take principle! On these two great commandments hang all the law and the prophets (channels through which divine laws are fed to us). This is the true enactment of the spiritual commandment when the Christ consciousness dawns. God commanded man to dominate creation; animals look up to man for direction. Man is the commanding officer of the earth abode and he is to lead a dominated world by example; when man comes to the proper understanding of the second great commandment and embraces it by respecting the life (blood) in the flesh of every incarnate soul, animals will follow in his footsteps. Without man taking the first step, creation will continue to rebel against the Father's great commandment.

What was Cain's offfering and why was it not accepted? Cain is the tiller of the ground. What does the ground mean? The ground is a fixated expression of the spirit life; the inability of consciousness to express itself on a higher level. To till the ground is to concentrate on improving every aspect of our fixated expression (our humaness), thus a disregard of our heavenly Father's will (deliberately or ignorantly). It will only bring thorns and thistles (spiritual hardship and frustration) because the ground (fixated expression mode) is cursed! We must think of Cain's offering when trying to improve who we humanly are: rather than knowing more importantly the Father's requirement of man. The best, Cain's offering could produce is moral uprightness but not righteousness. Let us understand that righteousness is not moral uprightness. Many religious people are morally upright but are not righteous because they do not walk in the light of the heavenly Father's expectation of man. They cannot fulfill the Father's Will on earth, hence they are deemed unrighteous (unclean) in the eyes of heaven. When we walk in the light of our heavenly Father's expectation of us, we are deemed righteous in the eyes of Heaven.

Cain's offering came first: Genesis 4: 3-5; And in the process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought the fruit of the ground an offering unto the Lord. And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the Lord had respect unto Abel and his offering: But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell. Cain's offering may have been respected had it come after Abel's (the human Spirit) but the egocentricity of self which allows nothing to come before it would not permit it, thus paying a heavy price as we shall see later in the continuing passage. According to Hebrews 10:9; Then said he, "Behold I have come to do Your will, O God", He takes away the first that He may establish the second. Jesus substituted the first (Cain's) offering for the second (Abel's) according to this scriptural passage. This is the right process: obedience of our heavenly Father's commandments must come first; we may then improve our humanness towards moral uprightness; although this is not a spiritual requirement: only a fulfillment of all righteousness.

The story of Cain and Abel depicts man's offering to our heavenly Father in an unorderly manner. Man chose to improve his humanness before the obedience of the Father's premier commandments. This order of sacrifice is wrong, hence, it is unacceptable before heaven. Christ, the substitute for Abel, reversed the order at the fullness of time. May I state here that our material life and our spiritual life are the allegorical Cain and Abel described here, each battling for mastery over the other. The egocentric self (Cain): and the Spirit evolving self (Abel). Egocentrism connotes that the ego cannot or does not have spiritual aspiration; it is the part of us that glorifies self and concentrates all its effort on self-worship rather than obeying the Father's commandment to evolve. It believes that it can grow by improving (tilling) its fixated expression (ground), which have been cursed divinely. Energy (spirit life) does not stay stagnant; it is against our heavenly Father's will. It either evolves or it diminishes. For man to enjoy a rich spiritual life, his ego or personality must fall asleep as we shall see later in this passage.

It is assumed that Abel (the human Spirit), and the keeper of flocks (Father's commandments); was always ready to offer sacrifices of obedience to the Father, but he lacked the mental stamina, psychological and emotional strength to contend with Cain (the human ego) until the advent of the Christ. Christ was ready to give his all, to climb the evolutionary ladder to Godhood, hence this quotation: Hebrews 12:24; To (Christ) Jesus the mediator of the new convenant (new order of offering) and to the blood (life) of sprinkling that speaks better things than that of Abel. The ego desires to hold on to the life (expression) it knows; but Christ sprinkles it (let it go) that a better and higher expression may come. The inability of the human spirit (Abel) to stand against the ego (Cain) strengthens the Old Testament or covenant. The advent of the Christ consciousness reverses the order. The old and new testaments are not eras; they are choices! When we embrace the Christ-consciousness, we have moved from the old religious manner of worship to the Christian era of worship, which is the new covenant or testament. Christ-consciousness is the knowledge of the Will and requirement of the Father of man, which is the obedience of the first and second great commandment and the readiness to walk in the light of that knowledge.

Genesis 4:5-7; And Can was wrought (frustrated) and his countenance (beauty of his expression or apperance) fell (diminished). And the Lord said unto Cain, why art thou wroth? And why is thy countenance fallen? If thou doest well, shall thou not be accepted? And if thou doest not well, sin lieth at thy door and unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shall rule over him. To paraphase, this statement may mean: And the Father said to Cain, why are you angry and frustrated? And why is thy appearance diminished? If you meet the requirement, would your sacrifice (efforts or strivings) not be accepted? And if you cannot meet the requirement, your heart (the door) will open up to sin (the disregard of the Father's commandments, which kills the soul). Sin desires to kill you but you must perservere and overcome it. Here, the Father wanted Cain (the human ego) to see what is required of him: remember, the scripture says, "to obey is better than to sacrifice (our efforts and strivings). Man should come to the understanding of what the Father requires of him rather than striving to better his lot in the material world. Let me state here that there is no glory in manhood as compared to his God-destination. Man fades away quickly and is compared to a worm when he is unable to see heavenly realities, which is what the Father requires of him. Job 25:5-6; How then can man be justified (contend) with God? Or how can he be clean that is born of a woman? Behold, even to the moon, and it shineth not; yea, the stars are not pure in his sight. How much less man that is a worm? and the son of man which is a worm?

The Father has no authority over man's decisions; how man decides to see realities (whether guided or unguided) depends on how he focuses his attention. Man's eyes need a change in the manner of focus, to be positioned aright to see spiritually, if he wants to put an end to repeated and frustrated circles of incarnations. Ephesians 3:9; To make men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Christ Jesus. Ephesians 1:17-18; That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints. 2 Corinthians 2:14; But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. If the heavenly Father had, had authority over man's decision, he would not be able to grow and expand consciousness into Godhood. The Christ life must dawn on him, but until then; he is kept in the dark, wandering blindly in a circle. The firstlings and fat flocks (commandments) Abel offered, is a spiritual and divine reality, but blind, wandering man embraces misguided realities. All he can offer to the heavenly Father for now are the fruits from the tilled ground (his fixated expression), which at best is moral uprightness. He must hang on his cross daily until the veil of the temple rends into two, then he will see the holies of holies (the firstlings and fat commandments), which is the reality the Christ (the last incarnate or last Adam) embraces. Luke 9:23; And Jesus said to them all, if any man will come after me, let him deny himself, take up his cross daily, and follow me. Luke 9:22; But I tell you of a truth, there be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the kingdom of God. To paraphrase, this statement may mean: But I tell you of a truth, there are some presently living on earth who shall not die physically until they see the realities of the kingdom of heaven.

Everything we have discussed so far begins to unfold and become clearer from the eighth verse onwards. Genesis 4:8; And Cain talked to his brother: and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against his brother, and slew him. To paraphrase, this statement may mean: Cain (the human ego) agreed with his brother, Abel (the human Spirit) to have (partake) a material or physical life (field) and it came to pass when they were in the material world, that the spirit is silenced by the egocentric self, who powerfully and aggressively dictated the tune of the material life. This verse connotes that the human spirit is unable to express itself. It is dead! Let us bear in mind that the human spirit is the keeper of divine commandments, hence it is only the spirit (not the ego), through the soul life that can reconnect man back to a relationship with the heavenly Father; but the ego now sits in the driving seat. If these two aspects of us were to have a cordial relationship in the field (material or physical life), the spirit would have contributed its own quota by constantly reminding the ego of the Father's requirement which would made the physical life more easier for them, but the egocentricity of self would not permit this; the ego does rule and subdues anything that wants to share its place. Abel, the human spirit is weak and unable to contend with his aggressive brother, Cain, the egocentric self, until Christ comes into the picture and turns the table. The blood (life) of Christ: who speaketh better things than the blood (life) of Abel.

To better understand this discussion, let us consider this illustration: We have 168 hours in a week. How many hours do we spend on our spiritual self as compared to our personality (or ego self)? Some would argue that a person sleeps at least a third of his incarnated life (8 hours every day). True, but he rest from what? Physical exertion: during the day. He had been working throughout the day, attending to the needs of his personality (or the ego). We ought to know that every day hassle weakens the the spiritual self; and our peronality or ego takes most of our time. The scripture says, "to love the Lord God with all our heart, with all our soul and with all my mind". In the Greek and Roman mythology, a cyclop is a one-eyed giant. To be cycloptic means, "to approach or view a situation of a single perspective". Matthew 6:22; The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light. To paraphrase, this statement may mean: The whole purpose of your life is to see; if therefore you are focused, your whole life shall be full of realities. Jesus lived his entire life from a single perspective, all he did and taught daily was about the kingdom of God. Luke 22: 37; And in the day time he was teaching in the temple; and at night he went out and abode in the mount that is called Olives. We see Jesus doing the heaven Father's business during the day (expanding the kingdom of Heaven) and at night renewing his spiritual energy. 'Mount' means a stressful climb'. At night Jesus persevered in order to renew his spiritual energy. 'Olive', means evergreen: a continual freshness of anointing. To renew your spiritual energy is to be in constant relationship with heaven, your next abode. Christ gave it all. The ego self-had no say at all. It simply raises its hands up in surrender. When our personality takes most of our daily life, we are killing Abel (the human spirit).

Our spiritual life is quite different from our religious life. In fact, the ego champions the religious life. Spirituality is having direct contact with heaven; having a foreknowledge of the mysteries of the realities of heaven through the ministry of the Holy Spirit, also having a readiness to give all it will take to get to heaven. Religion is an organized community of people who follow the lettered (or written) words without the Rhema (spoken word) adding quality to it. Religious minds consume the scriptural letters in its raw, unrefined form; this method is unwholesome spiritually because it breeds spiritual lepers. Immediately after the Christ consciousness, our primary assignment is to turn water (the written word) into wine (mysteries of the spirit and of the New Testament) 2 Corinthians 3:6; Who has made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.

Genesis 4:9; And the Lord said to Cain, Where is Abel thy brother? And he said, I know not: Am I my brother's keeper? To paraphrase, this statement may mean: And the Father said unto Cain (the ego or personality), 'Where is your spiritual life?' (Shrugs) He said, 'I don't know; as you can see, I am tilling the ground' (improving my humanness). Why should I bother about my spiritual life which is so overbearing and demanding? A cycloptic life is monotonous'. Don't forget, it is Abel's (the human spirit) duty to constantly remind us of the plan and intention of the Father. Although we are to acquire human life experience, our destination is heavenwards (our Godhood). We must concentrate all our life, all our thoughts and our being towards that end. Probably, it seems monotonous but it is a profitable venture; who we are, and what we do every day must be from the perspective of our spiritual life, not our material life.

Genesis 4:10-12; And the Lord said, what hast thou done? the voice of thy brother's blood (life) crieth unto me from the ground. And now art thou (the ego) cursed from the earth, which hath opened her mouth to receive thy brother's blood from thy hand; when thou tillest the ground, it shall not  henceforth yield to thee her strength; a fugitive and a vagabond shall thou be in the earth. To paraphrase, this statement may mean: And the Father said, “What have you done? The voice of thy spirit life cries to me from the catastrophic and ruinous effect of your action of tilling the ground” -- (concentrating on the improvement of humanness). “And now you can no longer stay on the earth as long as you desire, because your earth life consumes your spirit life as a result of your actions”. “Anytime you attempt to improve any aspect of your flesh life” -- when thou tillest the ground – “your efforts will go down the drain”; fugitive as used here means, 'difficulty to retain life; an elusive and ephemeral life on earth'. Vagabond means, 'having an indeterminate destination and length of time on earth'.

The ego places so much importance on self, making the mind the tool with which it maneuvers its world. We see judgment placed on this one-sided aspect of man. Cain was not banished totally from the earth, as seen at the end of the sentence in the twelfth verse, but the incarnated personality would not be allowed to stay as long as it wishes. It must grow old and fade away. If this important step was not taken, man would lose his spirit (or life-force) to the material world. I'll like to hint here that one ego life succeeds one ego life, this is necessary to allow life experiences to be gathered. The totality of all life experiences gathered by each incarnated ego can be referred to as, 'the state of consciousness', which is the Soul -- an accumulation of all incarnated ego and life experiences. And so, the soul grows through the kind of experiences every incarnated ego gathers. The soul is the essence of a man's life consisting of his thoughts and personality; infact, the soul is the seat of consciousness. The ego or personality is necessary for every incarnated human life because without it, consciousness cannot expand. It is only at the dawn (initiation) of the Christ consciousness that the ego begins to surrender to the operation of the spirit life. The ego (Cain), though spiritually blind, had always been on the driving seat in the material and physical life; and the human spirit (Abel) paralyzed and inactive through the ego's activities, is considered dead. But at the fullness of time, the Christ consciousness does take over the wheels of our incarnated life and the ego will finally surrender to the operation of the Spirit through the Christ life. One fully imbued with Christ consciousness does not have a strong ego neither does he have a humanly vibrant personality. Such a life is a full surrender to the life of the Spirit. To understand the ego, observe a man who is contented with his material achievement and well-being at the expense of his spiritual well-being. To understand a waning ego or personality, observe someone, who is intelligent enough to acquire material wealth, but makes spiritual goal his desire. The loss of personality or the decline of the ego is a symbol of a waning canal or flesh life. A spiritual person simply sprinkles, (shed) his flesh life (blood), reconciling all previous incarnation to the Christ consciousness, the last Adam. A sprinkled life is like blowing powder into the air. These powdery particles cannot assemble again once blown into the air. When the flesh life is blown away, the soul through the Christ consciousness is reconciled to God, who gives the soul a new and glorious expression; the celestial expression! He is canal, who tries to improve and glorify his flesh life (till the ground), the scriptures says, 'it will not yield her strength', meaning the flesh and its life will eventually grow old and die off. The ego man is compared to a fugitive. For a canal man, life is short, despite all efforts to retain one's life, old age will set in. At old age, he must come to terms with the fact that life can be very elusive. No man can hold on to life; life either leaves you or you leave it. Painful also is the fact that man cannot choose his length of days, when he attempts to lengthen his days; the ephemerality of life narrowly outwits him. Furthermore, man's life is indeterminate; just like a vagabond, he cannot really tell what will happen to him the next minute, hour, day, week, month or year. Today, he celebrates a wonderful occasion; tomorrow, he may lose and mourn a dear one. When one tries to better the condition and quality of human life when faced with these situations, efforts go down the drain.

We see Cain complain in the thirteenth verse when faced with these conditions, he simply cried out, "my punishment is greater than I can bear". Our life is centered on the heavenly Father's plan and purpose, anything we do outside this plan, puts our soul in trouble. Genesis 4:14; Behold, thou hast driven me out this day from the face of the earth; and from thy face shall I be hid; and I shall be a fugitive and a vagabond in the earth; and it shall come to pass, that anyone that findeth me shall slay me. The first sentence of this verse should pose no problem; the phrase, 'driven out of the earth' means that man cannot see earth as a home. Inwardly, every man knows that earth is not his home. Just like school life, when earth life is over, man must return home. Earth is a place or school where the soul expands consciousness through learning from life's experiences; and so it is wrong to see earth as home.

What does it mean to be 'hid from the face of the Lord'? When the human spirit is silenced by the human ego or personality, man cannot have a direct relationship with the heavenly Father. Man’s ego or personality must fall asleep in order to have a direct relationship the heavenly Father. Jesus said, 'I am in my Father and my Father in me'. Furthermore, in John 10:30; he says, 'I and my Father are one'. A man's spirit fosters oneness with the heavenly Father. So when a man's ego silences his spirit, this man is considered spiritually blind, hence he is hid or has a sense of separation from the Father's face (presence). When this happens, the tendency of the heart to open up to sin, 'the disregard of the Father's commandment through ignorance is unavoidable'. It is Sin's desire to have man, so it may kill him spiritually. Spiritual death means, 'to be totally disconnected from the Father with no chance of reconciliation'. This is the scriptural second death.

Let us discuss the phrase, 'and it shall come to pass that anyone (any incarnated life) that findeth me shall slay (kill) me'. I have mentioned earlier, that one ego life succeeds one ego life. This is necessary to allow life experiences to be gathered. Also, that the totality of all experiences gleaned by each incarnated ego can be referred to as, 'the state of consciousness', which is the Soul. And so, the soul grows through the kind of experiences every incarnated ego gathers. Here, Cain (the ego) is complaining that since he is hid (blind) from the face of the Father, there is a chance that any incarnated life (anyone) that he finds himself in, will (kill) disconnect him totally from the Father's face (presence). Earlier, I defined, 'spiritual death' as total disconnection from the Father with no chance of reconciliation. So the tendency to open up the heart (the door) to sin when in an incarnated life is what Cain is afraid of. Don't forget, earlier in the passage of Genesis 4:7; the Father warned him that sin lie at his heart (door) if he does not do well. And if thou doest not well, sin lieth at thy door and unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shall rule over him.

Genesis 4:15; And the Lord said unto him, Therefore whosoever (incarnation) slayeth Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him (Cain) sevenfold. And the Lord set a mark upon Cain, lest anyone (incarnation) finding him should kill him. To paraphrase, this statement may mean: And the Father said, therefore, whatsoever incarnation kills Cain; Cain will be purged after that earth life. Vengeance will be taken on Cain until he is purged. Here, the Father agrees with Cain's concern which is the tendency to open up the heart (door) to sin when in an incarnated life. And the Father makes provision for a remedy. To purge means, 'to remove gradually from man's soul, all debris; evil and involute entanglement through his actions, which were contrary to good conscience or the divine law; until he is free from them, thereby bringing him back to a state of rectitude'. If we consider this definition, every human, through the activities of our ego or personality falls short in obedience and compliance to the laws of action whenever we incarnate into the material world. After our material or physical life is spent, vengeance is taken on the human soul until sevenfold; sevenfold means, 'clean' from all debris. Seven is a symbol of purity or spiritual cleanliness; a state of rectitude or perfection; to be purged is to be clean again. The human soul recaptures retrogressively events during an earth life and sees the caustic effects of his actions on fellow men and other earth neighbours; these recapitulations reveals to him the agony his actions may have caused the other party and he is made to feel the effect of his actions on the other party. Hebrews 10: 22; Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with the pure water (unadulterated word of the Spirit). If man had obeyed the second great commandment from the spiritual perspective, vengeance upon his soul would have been needless. The second great commandment says, 'Love your neighbour as yourself and do unto others as you want them to do unto you'. By obeying strictly the second great commandment, man is free totally from the law of action against his earth neighbours.

Purgatory is not the scriptural Hell or the Lake of Fire or the second death. It is a state of an afterlife, where the soul suffers for the sins committed against another soul during a life-time. We should be aware that people can be purged even during a life-time. When one comes to the sincere realization of the caustic effect of his actions on any of his neighbour and is ready to make restitutions to the affected fellow, to restore to a state which pleases the injured fellow; when he does this, he has paid penance for the disobedience of the second great commandment. The sole purpose of purgatory is to make man see the effect of his actions on others, so that he may have a moral sense of right and wrong when he relates with fellowmen and other earth's neighbours. Let's consider this illustration: If you join the military force, you may end up killing people in a war. If these persons are innocent victims of war and you killed or beat them up; when recapturing this event, you will see yourself shooting or beating these innocent victims but at the same time feeling the pain and agony of these innocent victims. No matter the situation, before you shoot or beat up a fellow; you should ask yourself: if I were in the shoes of this fellow, would I want another man to treat me this way despite my offences? John 8:3-9; And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman taken in adultery; and when they had set her in their midst, They said unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act. Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what sayeth thou? They said this tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his fingers wrote on the ground, as thou he heard them not. So when they continued to ask him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her. And again he stooped, and wrote on the ground. And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went one by one, beginning at the eldest even unto the last.

Our conscience is the judge of our actions while we are alive in the material world but what judges us in purgatory is the opposite of what we have done against our neighbours; when you lie against your neighbour, the truth stands as your judge. When you kill unjustly, mercy stands as your judge. Spiritual virtues, which are the pillars of God's throne stands as our judge to cleanse our soul from the debris of wrongful actions against one another. To be purged is to fully understand how one's actions affect others. Psalms 119:9-11; Withwithal shall a young man cleanse his ways? By taking heed thereto according to thy word. With my whole heart have I sought thee: O let me not wander from thy commandments. Thy words have I hid in my heart that I might not sin against thee. Psalms 51:7; Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. Without purgatory, the soul, which is the seat of man's consciousness, cannot have a moral sense of right and wrong. Purgatory is the iron rod used to imbue the soul with a good conscience. Conscience is a necessary tool for the expansion of consciousness; Conscience, the soul's witness during purgatory is the small still voice urging man to do the right thing every time there is a cause of action. Conscience is what keep the soul spiritually alive and conscious of its actions. When we are soul conscious, we have achieved group consciousness, hence we have a rich soul life. When one's conscience is dead, the soul of such a one is spiritually dead, hence such a one is a candidate of the lake of fire. The soul cannot die (spiritually) when the conscience is alive and has a moral sense of right and wrong. The death as described in Genesis 3 is a sense of separation from the heavenly Father every time we incarnate, which is called the first death. It is appointed for every man to die once (the first death), after that judgment -- Purgatory. The Christ consciousness reconciles us back to the Father at the fullness of time. The second death is the total disconnection from the heavenly Father without any chance of reconciliation; this happens as a result of the death of conscience, when the soul no longer has a moral sense of right and wrong. When one begins to lose his conscience, his spiritual journey is retrogressive in nature, hence he is moving towards hell, the bottomless pit. Psalms 19:13-14; Keep back thy servant from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me: then shall I be upright, and I shall be innocent from the great transgression. Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in the sight, O Lord, my strength and my redeemer. Presumptuous sins are premeditated wrong actions taken against our neighbours because one is gradually losing his conscience. Great transgression alludes to the second great commandment when transgressed. When conscience is finally lost, the scripture says: Revelation 20:14; And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. The second death is the death of the soul, once the conscience is dead or lost. The lake of fire is not a physical burning fire; it is simply a connotation of the destruction of the soul; like the way we burn and destroy what is no longer needed. Just like heaven, is the fate of the immortal and divine soul, the righteous saints; the lake of fire is the fate of the lost soul, the human personification of the devil, who has no conscience. Satan has no soul!

And the Lord set a mark upon Cain, lest any (incarnation) finding him should slay him. To paraphrase, this statement may mean: And the Father set a boundary (mark) upon Cain, so that as long as Cain is within this boundary, he cannot be killed. A boundary is a dividing line or location between two areas. The ego goes on circles of incarnations until it becomes weary of earth life. When this happens, the human soul must give up the human life and choose one of the two paths that open up before him. He must either choose a spiritual path that leads to God consciousness, or choose to put his soul, the core of his conscious existence, to death through the embracement of the flesh and material life. The soul death is the death of his conscience, which is the root cause of total disconnection from the Father without any hope of reconciliation, the scriptural second death. If the breath of life (the Father’s spiritual gene), which makes man a living soul is absent, man is spiritually dead. The breathe of life into the nostril of man depicts a transference of the innate characteristics of God into man, a predestinated conformity to the image and likeness of God, which makes him unique among all other spirits. Other spirit beings also have the breath of God that enables them to be alive and breathing, however, these spirits do not have, 'the breath of life', hence they cannot grow consciously into Godhood. The breath of life is the genetic seed of God's nature, implanted into the consciousness of man, with a promising future of divine characteristic. The breath of life is active only within the consciousness of the soul, therefore, a spirit without a soul cannot possess, 'the breath of life'. Cain's sixth generation, Lamech (one who destroys or makes low) was the mark or boundary set upon him. Lamech means, 'destroyer', either the flesh and material life is destroyed or the spiritual life is destroyed. When we get to the part of Lamech, we'll discuss which one he chose to destroy.

Before interpreting Genesis 4:16, let me build a premise, so that our understanding of this verse can be enriched. There are three types of consciousness in the human life cycle. We have self-consciousness, soul or group consciousness and universal or group consciousness.
1) Self- consciousness is the part of us that is aware of the self as an individual. This part of man imbues us with self-importance and helps us have a relationship with our surroundings. This is the part of us which builds our personality. The ego is the executive of our personality and is governed by the reality principles around us. This part of man enriches his material and flesh life, striving earnestly to bring man into a state of grandeur and splendid magnificence through hard work. This part concentrates solely on man's achievement in the material life although its accumulated material life experience gives light to our soul life as the soul relates with the spirit. On the positive, this part of us is called, 'the light bringer', because it is the experiences it acquires in the material world that gives direction to the soul's relationship with our spiritual life. It shines light unto the soul's path as the soul strives onwards and upwards towards spiritual realities. It is the light that shapes and modifies our soul or core being. But our ego or personality life must fall asleep and then hand over the baton to the soul life in order to allow the soul to have a rich relationship with our God consciousness. Our ego or personality life cannot have a direct relationship with our God consciousness; man can only attain universal or God consciousness through the soul or group consciousness. Although self-consciousness comes first, man must attain soul or group consciousness in order to attain universal or God-consciousness.
2) Soul life or group life is the mediator between our ego life (self-consciousness) and our spiritual life (God consciousness). It is a state of probing introspection, a critical consideration of one's conscience, especially motives and values. It is a state where one must understand and obey the second great commandment. As earlier stated, the ego does not obey any of these two great commandments. As long as the ego is active, man cannot obey these commandments. Let us consider the second commandment again and see how the ego/personality life is put to sleep when we obey this commandment. The law states: 'You shall love your neighbour as yourself'. This means to do unto others as you want them to do unto you. Let us consider this illustration: You are a federal judge; you have a confrontation with a taxi driver in the premises of the church you attend and he slaps you. The taxi driver is also a member of your church. In resolving the issue, your personality as a federal judge must be put aside. In other words, it must fall asleep. Who you are, and the influence of your position as a federal judge must not speak at all when resolving the issue at hand. The issue must be resolve from the approach of 'brethren in the church'; 1 Corinthians 6:1-7. Secondly, although you are permitted to be angry, the obedience of the second great commandment must carry the day. You must put yourself in the position of the offender, what will you ask for? If you probe yourself sincerely, and it is mercy you will ask for, then you must grant mercy to the offender. That means doing unto others as you want them to do unto you. If anyone can do this, he has attained soul or group consciousness. Here, the ego is fast asleep. Your desires and needs do not come first. You must think of the group ahead of yourself. You see yourself in others and others in you. You are part of others and others are part of you. The world is no longer about you alone, but it is now about fellowship in oneness with others. In group consciousness, there is a high level of tolerance, since everyone is part of the group. In the books of Acts, the fifth chapter; Ananais and Sapphira were rejected from the group because they were still self-centered and couldn't fit in properly in the group. Scripture says, 'they all did things in one accord in Solomon's porch' Acts 5:12. Solomon means 'peaceable or perfect'. To paraphrase, this statement may mean: "they all did things in one accord in peace and in a perfect atmosphere". There was no room for self-centeredness. The self-dies when a group (city) is built; the death of Ananais and Sapphira represents the inability of the ego to function properly within the group. One cannot attain God-consciousness if he has not attained this stage. When your relationship with anyone having the Father's breath (spiritual gene) is cordial and from the perspective of deep-rooted conscience, you have achieved group consciousness; when your motives and values are not self-centered, you have attained group consciousness. To understand group consciousness, let us consider parts of our body. Although they are different from one another, they work together to ensure that the body is healthy. One part does not see itself as more important than others, if this happens, it will cause the body pain. In our world too, the care we show to any entity having a soul is very important and is noticed by the Father of all spirits. Animals have souls and are growing consciously too, although they have not achieved self-consciousness. Humans are to ensure their well-being and comfort on earth. When the true knowledge of God permeates our heart, as the waters cover the sea, we'll find out that this is not a difficult thing to do. In giving a helping hand to entities with lower consciousness, we are building a bridge towards a higher consciousness. So we must love fellowmen and animals as ourselves as they are the neighbours alluded in the second great commandment. Please read Isaiah 11:1-9 again for full comprehension of group or soul consciousness. The soul life is the Christ life; the Christ life identifies itself with love and tolerance. Christ consciousness is born or formed in us; the Apostle, Paul said: "My little children, of whom I travail in birth again until Christ be formed in you". Galatians 4:19; "For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ". Galatians 3:27; "For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ". 1 Corinthians 2:16. Jesus, the Christ said, "no one comes to the Father except through me". This statement means that if one does attain group or soul consciousness which embodies love and tolerance, you cannot have direct relationship with the Father. The group (a city built) is a spiritual initiation, intended to foster relationship with the universal or God consciousness; it is a spiritual initiation that shapes properly, divine realities in man. When I say, "group", I do not mean joining a group, I mean seeing yourself as part of the whole thus, the need of the whole is more important than your individual need. The group or soul life is like building a city, place or temple; whereby nature is brought under one umbrella. It is the diverse, but synergized energy of the whole, working in oneness. It is only through the attainment of this level of consciousness that we can have a relationship with our Godhood in Eden (delight). Without proper understanding of the first and second great commandment from the spiritual perspective, one cannot have a rich soul life and be properly initiated into the group stage of consciousness.

In interpreting Genesis 4:16, the east of Eden connotes, 'an illuminating knowledge that fosters a relationship with God through the soul life'. Eden is the garden where our souls have a relationship with the Father; the Father comes in at the cool of the day (when all is noiseless) that He may have a relationship with us. Genesis 3:8; And they heard the voice of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day... Noiseless connotes the absence of strive in nature and absolute peace among creation because the law of God is written in man's heart. 2 Corinthians 3:3-4; Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistles of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the spirit of the living God; not in tables of stones, but in fleshly tables of the heart. And such trust have we through Christ to God-wards.

3) Universal or God-consciousness is energy consciousness which creates intelligently. Man can attain this level of energy consciousness strictly by obeying the first great commandment: Matthew 22: 37-38; You shall love the Lord thy God with your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the first great commandment. Universal or God-consciousness is attainable through the soul or group life. Having had our realities shaped by the Christ consciousness, man's destiny and potential is his Godhood. Man must love and crave this creative aspect of divinity with all his heart, soul and mind. Please note that this is a personal experience and not a general one because all men are not in the same spiritual level of consciousness. Some are in the first level of consciousness which is self-consciousness, others at the group or soul consciousness and a very few at the God-consciousness. These are the three spiritual stages of man's consciousness growth.

Having laid this premise, let us now interpret Genesis 4:16; And Cain went out of the presence of the Lord, and dwell in the land of Nod (falls asleep) on the east of Eden. Let us consider the phrase, 'And Cain went out of the presence of the Lord'. Every man in the physical and material life is out of the presence of God. Though, there is a sense of separation, man can take bold spiritual steps through the knowledge of the requirement and will of the Father of him to reconnect himself back to the Father through the Christ consciousness. He can achieve this feat only if his human ego falls asleep. To dwell in the land of Nod, is to dwell in the land of sleep; by nodding off, (Cain) the human ego wanes, opening the door, for man to enjoy a soul or group life. The word, Nod means to, 'fall asleep'. The word, East means 'illuminating knowledge or wisdom'. Eden means, 'delight'. Eden is known as the garden where God meets man, when man reconnects back to Him through the illuminating knowledge of God's commandment, boldly written in his fleshly heart; 2 Corinthian 3:3-4. To paraphrase the second phrase in Genesis 4:16, this statement may mean: And Cain (the ego) dwell in the land of Nod (falls asleep or wanes) on the east (when illuminating knowledge is attained) of Eden (through one's delight) in the Father's commandment. The ego falls asleep (nods off) when illuminating knowledge is attained through one's delight in the Father's commandment. When the ego is awake, one wanders from the Lord's commandment, but when a person delights in the Lord's commandment, the ego loses its power and falls asleep. Psalms 119: 10-11; With my whole heart have I sought You, oh let me not wander from Your commandment! Your word have I hid in my heart, that I might not sin against You.

Genesis 4:17; And Cain (the sleeping ego) knew his wife (his nurturing aspect) and she concieved, and bare Enoch (initiated): and he builded a city (a group) and called the name of the city, after the name of his son, Enoch. To paraphrase, this statement may mean: The sleeping ego (now soul conscious man) had intercourse with his nurturing aspect, and gave birth to initiation; and he built a group and called it initiated. Cain's wife is his nurturing (intuitive and cognitive) self. To nurture, means to, 'nourish or care for'. It also means to contribute to the spiritual development of an individual. This gives birth to initiation. To initiate something is to begin or start something. What was it that Cain started? He built a city or group. The standpoint of this verse is that man began to be group conscious. Like I said earlier, the soul life or group life champions the obedience of the second great commandment. So man had moved from self-consciousness (active ego) to group or soul consciousness (waning ego).

Genesis 4:18; And unto Enoch was born Irad: and Irad begat Mehujael: and Mehujael begat Methusael: and Methusael begat Lamech. To paraphrase, this statement may mean: And unto Enoch (initiation) was born Irad (emancipation or let loose): and Irad -- wild ass (emancipation or let loose) gave birth to Mehujael (one who proclaims God): and Mehujael (one who proclaims God) gave birth to Methusael (one who demands death or an end): and Methusael (one who demands death or an end) gave birth to Lamech (one who destroys).
Please check the meaning of these names, and see how they correspond to the interpretation of this verse. Enoch means, 'initiated'. To initiate something is to start or begin a process. Cain had started a process of building a city or a group and calling the city after the name of his son. This means that man, after his ego falls asleep reconnected himself to the Father by means of initiation (Enoch) and also became group conscious; this is the allegorical city (or group) built and named after Enoch (initiated). This process gave birth to Irad -- wild ass, which means, 'emancipation or let loose'. When man was self-conscious and his ego active and awake, he was ignorant of the will and requirement of the Father of him because he did not obey the first and second great commandment. Man became iniatiated (Enoch) into group consciousness, through the obedience of the second great commandment, he was then (free, emancipated or let loose: Irad) to obey the first great commandment which is the proclamation of God (consciousness). This proclamation is called Mehujael (one who proclaims God). Here, we see man can now put an end to circles of incarnations and demand death to the human expression mode in order to express himself celestially; and so this process gave birth to Methusael (one who demands death or an end). And the Lord set a mark upon Cain, lest any (incarnation) finding him should slay him. The mark or boundary set on Cain was that when the soul becomes weary of circles of incarnations, then the destroyer (Lamech) will show up; and as long as the soul is not weary of earth life, nothing can destroy it since it must be purged or cleansed after every earth life. Through Methusael, the human soul declares a willingness to give up the human life and demands death to the human expression, hence the birth of Lamech (the destroyer).

Genesis 4:19; And Lamech took unto him two wives: the name of the one was Adah, and the name of the other, Zillah. These allegorical wives are two different paths set before the soul. He must choose one path and the other path would be destroyed. Adah means, 'assembly'; and Zillah means, 'a shadow or shade'. An assembly is a group working together in unison; Zillah is a shadow or shade that blocks the light from reflecting, the result is darkness because light cannot express itself. The gist here is, we should judge the two paths (wives) by their offsprings. Genesis 4:20-22; And Adah bare Jabal: he was the Father as such that dwell in tents, as such that have cattle. And his brother's name is Jubal: he was the father of all such that handles the harps and organ. And Zillah, she also bare Tubal-Cain, an instructor of every artificer of brass and iron: and the sister of Tubal-Cain was Naamah. To dwell in tents, according to this passage means, 'to attend to or heed to', Jabal was the father of such that heed to what...? Remember, Abel was a keeper of flock, as such, to have cattle, may mean, 'to have the Lord's commandment'. Jabal was the father of such that attend or heed the Lord's commandment. To handle the harps and organ, means, 'to teach'. Jubal was the father of all such that teaches the Lord's commandments. Tubal-Cain means, 'to reproduce or revive Cain'. This means to wake up the sleeping ego. It also means world acquirer, who embraces materiality. Our period of spiritual journey is referred to as SILVER and GOLD dispensation, not the inferior Brass and Iron Age. Naamah means, 'pleasant and agreeable'. When the ego is active, material life seems pleasant or agreeable. After all, materiality is what the ego embraces.

Adah, which means 'assembly', or to work together in unison, produced Jabal, who is the father of all who heed to the Lord's commandment. His brother, Jubal is the father of all teachers of the Lord's commandments. What this means is that group consciousness fosters the obedience of the Lord's commandments and its teachings.
Zillah means 'shadow or shade'. Zillah blocks the illumination knowledge of the Father's commandment in man's heart. Zillah is that which hinders man from heeding the Lord's commandment, or even teaching it. Zillah produced Tubal-Cain: the reawakening of Cain (the human ego); he is the producer of the inferior brass and iron era, rather than the SILVER and GOLD dispensation. He leads man retrogressively in embracing a forgotten flesh and material life (Brass and Iron Age) at the expense of an ever dynamic and evolving spiritual life (SILVER and GOLD dispensation). The Silver dispensation represents the conscious obedience of the second great commandment, thus the attainment of group consciousness; and the Golden dispensation represents the obedience of the first great commandment, thus the attainment of universal or God consciousness. The scripture says, "the silver is mine; and the gold is mine, saith the Lord of hosts"; Haggai 2:8. Naamah, Tubal-Cain's sister, whose name means, 'agreeable or pleasant', leads one to agree with her brother, Tubal-Cain in reviving the sleeping or waning ego and also to see the flesh and material life as pleasant.

Having unveiled these two paths before the conscious soul; the soul must choose to follow one path and destroy the other path. Lamech (the destroyer), ever ready to carry out the conscious choice of the soul impersonates the soul here: the soul's choice is Lamech's voice. Genesis 4:23-24; And Lamech said unto his two wives, Adah and Zillah, Hear my voice; ye wives of Lamech, hearken to my speech: for I have slain a man to my wounding, and a young man to my hurt. If Cain shall be avenged seven fold, truly Lamech seventy and seven fold. The emphasis of these two verses is: for I have slain a man to my wounding, and a young man to my hurt. If Cain shall be avenged seven fold, truly Lamech seventy and seven fold. To paraphrase, this statement may mean: For I have destroyed the human flesh life (a man) which afflicted me spiritually, and the vibrant flesh life (young man) which caused me spiritual pain. If Cain (the ego or personality) is purged after every earth life, truly Lamech (the impersonation of the conscious soul) is SANCTIFIED (or perfected). To be clean, perfected or sanctified according to the scriptures, "is to meet the requirement of a higher expression of one's Spirit". For skeptics about the numbers seven; and seventy times seven, consider this scripture: Matthew 18:21-22; Then Peter came to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times? Jesus said unto him, I saith not unto thee, Until seven times: but until seventy times seven. To paraphrase, this statement may mean: Then Peter came to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? Till he is purged?; which means, 'till I have made him to see that he has offended me'? Jesus said unto him, I saith not unto thee, until he knows that he has offended you; but until he is perfect. When he is perfect, he will no longer offend you.

The man that Lamech killed represents the flesh life, which is unclean. He who embraces flesh life is unable to come to the knowledge of the requirement and will of the Father of man. The flesh and canal man is unable to walk in the light of the first and second great commandment from the spiritual perspective; therefore he is unclean and deemed unrighteous before heaven. 1 Corinthians 2:14-15; But the natural (flesh) man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man. The vibrancy of the flesh life is represented by the young man; as such a waning flesh life is always represented by an old man. This passage represents the death of the flesh life, substituted by the vibrancy of the spirit life, which ushers us into the Golden dispensation. So Lamech (impersonating the conscious soul) chose to destroy the flesh or material life; and embrace the spiritual path which leads to reconciliation to the Father and to his Godhood. Now that man is reconciled to the Father, he can now have a direct relationship with (worship) the Father in truth and in Spirit of the obedience of the great commandments.

Genesis 4:25; And Adam knew his wife again; and she bare a son, and called his name Seth: For God, said she, hath appointed me another seed instead of Abel, whom Cain slew. Seth means, 'substitute', for Abel, the human spirit that Cain, the ego crushed. Abel or the human spirit lacked the stamina and strength to contend with Cain, the ego; hence it was substitute for a higher and better Spirit, who could reconcile man to the Father through a direct relationship with Him. This Substitute is inclined to worship in truth and in Spirit and the obedience of the Father's great commandments. This Substitute is the Christ Spirit: A life-giving Spirit. Hebrews 12:24; To (Christ) Jesus the Mediator of the new convenant (new order of worship), and to the blood of sprinkling that speaks better things than that of Abel.
Genesis 4:26; And to Seth, to him also there was born a son; and he called his name Enos: then began men to call upon the name of the Lord. Enos means, 'despaired of; sick; sorrowful or mortal man'. Christ is the last incarnate, who reconciled all past incarnations to the Father. He is Christ, who receives the last baton that man may never reincarnate again; rather man sours upwards and onward to his Godhood, a higher expression of his spirit. The Christ life gives birth to Enos, a despised, sick, sorrowful and rejected personality (not in the eyes of heaven but according to public opinion). Enos is mortal man with no personality or ego; once the consciousness is reached, the last sentence says, 'then began men to call on the name of the lord'.

Isaiah 53:1-12; Who art believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the Lord revealed? For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him. He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not. Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and by his stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned everyone to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth. He was taken from prison and from judgement: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken. And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth. Yet it pleased the Lord to bruised him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in his hand. He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities. Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.

For skeptics, about the interpretation of the story of CAIN and ABEL, let me end with this scriptural verses: 1 Corinthians 2:10-15; But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. For what man knoweth the things of man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.  Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man.
